Research Proposal on report on Cathay pacific airline indstry

Sample Research Proposal Instructions

Assessment Task

In this task you will demonstrate your understanding of the key workings, responsibilities and advance required to develop a strategic knowledge of a firm and its operating environment.
You are to submit a report, in an appropriate business report format, that responds to the above issue.
The report should be a maximum length of 2,000 words.

Specific Requirements

You are to select one of the following high profile companies as the basis for this task.

• Officeworks – office supplies retailer
• Hungry Jacks- fast food chain
• National Bank – retailing banking
• Rebel – sporting goods retailer
• Cathay Pacific – international airline
• Arnott's – snack food and biscuit manufacturer
• Nudie Juice – niche juice manufacturer
• Bakers Delight – franchise bakery operator

Using your selected business from the above list – you are to outline the key strategic techniques and tools of analysis that you would use to gain an in-depth understanding of the firm, its business, and its environments.
You will need to clearly illustrate the key concepts, frameworks and tools of analysis that you learnt this semester. You should attempt to identify why, and how, you would apply the techniques when analysing your chosen company, and you should indicate the type of information you would expect to develop from your analysis.
The requirement of this supplementary task is for you to demonstrate your understanding of the key components, tasks, frameworks and approaches that are used when analysing a firm and its operating environment.
Given that you do not have access to detailed data about the company or its industry you are not required to develop strategic recommendations for the firm. The assessment is not focussed on the accuracy and reliability of the data – it is designed to assess your understanding of concepts learnt this semester.

Research Proposal on Obtain competitive advantage by using e-commerce in restaurant services. A Comparative study between UK and India.

Sample Research Proposal Instructions

Title: Obtain competitive advantage by using e-commerce in restaurant services. A Comparative study between UK and India.

The dissertation topic choosen by me is ,due to the fact that in Pune (India) I have a plan in near future may be in 1 or 2 years, me and my family will open an Indian restaurant. As seen in the city itself there is no facilities of online table reservations or bookings with any of the restaurants though they have the facility of viewing the restaurants and the type of food served online where the contact number is available.

Also a trend people when visiting restaurants prefer going with family and friends in bulk, where they are usually disappointed when they do not have enough tables in their favourite restaurant or they need to go some where else.

This is why I found it more interesting to go for this topic where in future if we launch our restaurant want to use the e-commerce service or internet as a medium to do business, we have a research done and know what people want, will they go for online reservation of restaurant tables which will be more convenient for them.

Research Proposal on Ethical Dilemma

Sample Research Proposal Instructions

Scenario:

You are heading the sales and promotion department at a major private health insurance organisation based in Victoria. This department is responsible for coming up with new strategies to promote the health products advertised by the organisation. The competition is getting stiffer and stiffer. Recession in the economy is not helping. There is a major push from the Managing Director to increase sales and thereby increasing the market share and presence. In fact a lot of jobs are on the line, including yours, if some major changes are not produced over the next six months.
One day you are approached by a co-worker- Elijah, who has recently joined this organisation. He is responsible for generating new ideas for promotion. Elijah used to work for the major competitor of this organisation (Health++ Pvt. Ltd.), for seven years. He suggests, "I made notes on all of Health++'s strategies and internal marketing decisions. Their strategies are much more advanced and cutting edge as compared to the ones being followed here. Would you like to have a look at those notes? We can then have a detailed discussion."

How would you respond ?

Task:

Apply the general procedure for analysing an ethical problem. Include the following sections in your report:
o The stakeholders: people involved,
o General Obligations that the scenario demands,
o Which actions are likely to bring best consequences?
o Any question(s) that has(have) been raised in the scenario.
o Write 1-2 page report.

Research Proposal on a high percentage of residents in government funded aged care homes have history of a mental illness; do aged care staff feel adequately skilled to care for these residents and their symptoms

Sample Research Proposal Instructions

I am finding more and more people with mental illness are 'dumped' into the aged care system with no help or support for these people or staff support. The government is paying high dollers for these people to be cared for but are they getting the care they need?

What mental health qualifications do staff have who care for these people with presentations of mental health symptoms?

Do staff feel adequately skilled to manage symtoms, aggression, depression, etc and care the emotional side of their care.

Do residents feel that their mental wellbeing is being cared for?
Is their mental health symptoms looked after.
How do staff know that they need reassessment, they need help, have their medications reviewed.
Who manages their symptoms, counsels them.

Research Proposal on a high percentage of residents in commonwealth funded aged care homes have hisstory of a mental illness; do aged care staff feel apropriately skilled to care for hte symptoms and needs of these people.

Sample Research Proposal Instructions

I am doing masters in mental health practice and working in a nursing home as a carer.
more and more people in aged care have mental illness such as depression, bipolar, schizophrenia and other mental health history and symtoms. Although the aged care organisations get funding for these diagnosis and looking after these people, they fail to give appropriate training to their staff who feel they lack necessary skills to recognise symptoms, to assess and care for these clients.
We as staff often feel scared, are pushed, hit, verbally and physically abused, spat on and feel we havent got the necessary skills to manage behaviours, aggression and symptoms of clients who have mental illness in aged care.
I am proposing to do a research proposal to see how other staff feel, do they believe that the department of health and ageing should look at making it compulary to incorporate mental health training into the aged care course and orgnisations should make it mandatory annual paid training for all staff to refresh in this area of mental health training.

I also need some questions i need to ask the staff for this research that will make them think and support me in my study.

Balance of payment problem

Objectives, Questions and Hypothesis

The investigating of balance of payment problem, focusing on the effects among financial institutions particular to the banking industry as the research may bring in desirable possibilities that, Tanzania can follow and execute ample ways according to research context and informative basis that deals to balance of payment and its underlying problem. Research spontaneity and preciseness is vital for the overall organization of literature, also methods used in research being part of study assimilation.

  1. What is meant by balance of payment? How does balance of payment problem happen?

  2. What are some of the consequences of these payment problems? How to it can be avoided?

  3. Is there a theory/model directed to balance of payment problem? Give example (at least 1-2) and elaborate

  4. What are several factors that affect and influence balance of payment problems? How is it manifested?

There can be claims that certain balance of payments crisis is to be found in the prevailing high degree of capital mobility and financial globalization of the institution, as under circumstances, shifts in foreign capital flows and anticipation of a banking system bailout may produce large imbalances between stocks of financial assets and foreign reserves, threatening the sustainability of balanced payments as there adheres to several reserve losses as accounted by the payment crisis. Thus, large financial imbalances do serve as a fertile ground for the crises which leads to some devaluation producing in deep recessions and might be treated by appropriate financial policies. Research base on the balance of payment problem, according to secondary sources that links to researches that implies a literature ground. The proposal will review recent theoretical literature on balance of payment and its known problems as based on real world observation, there is a need to discuss literature insights.

H1: There is positive effect of balance of payment problem in the banking industry

H2: There is negative effect of balance of payment problem in the banking industry

Examining relationship between changes in international reserves and changes in balance of payments in Tanzania from a short run economic model of the balance of payments that will be formulated and estimated as such output and prices are recognized and behaviors of monetary and fiscal matters are clearly modeled. The monetary variables appear to have played a relatively significant role in the development of prices, but they were only marginally significant in the process of balance of payments adjustment. The simulation can indicate that tradeoff existed between faster economic growth and better balance of payments performance.

Sample Literature

For literature, some policy makers argue that deficit is easily financed, temporary and not sign of structural weakness, the conditions in which it is appropriate for country to overspend its current income with the intention of repaying loans out of future income. Following review of operation in mechanism of balance of payment adjustment according to Mundell-Fleming model, literature implies to modern analysis of dynamics about balance of payments adjustment under flexible exchange rates. The general framework will be applied to characterize case study and survey interaction between balance of payments and certain equilibrium with discussion of empirical issues into the balance of payment theories/model as well as analysis. Cline and Weintraub (1981), have indicated that, "balance of payments problem sometimes appear to be endemic disease among developing nations as current economic orthodoxy teaches, in order to qualify for short-term international loans to tide over the present crisis, country should first enact package of reforms to remedy the situation in the medium term" (p. 149). There were no apparent link balance of payments and banking crises, when financial markets were highly regulated, following the liberalization of financial markets across many parts of the world, banking and currency crises become closely entwined. Most often, banking-sector problems predate the balance-of-payment crisis, knowing that a banking crisis was underway helps predict a future currency crisis. The financial vulnerability of the economy increases as the un-backed liabilities of the banking system climb to lofty levels.

Methodology

For the method, the survey will be in form of case analysis which will be examining causes of balance of payment problems, gauge the vulnerability of the economy on the eve of crisis, to assess whether the crisis itself could be forecasted by financial development, the need to make sets of judgments, to define notion of what is classified as a crisis, agree on list of variables that are potential leading indicators and to determine if crisis happens within reasonable period of time of banking and balance of payment crises. The core methodology can be using a survey method as there places an ideal interest to balance of payment integration from such problems centering on banking industry from the field of financial laws and regulations. The need to identify and assess model of such balance of payment problem/crises

BPO Industry: Training and Development

The needs to identify, understand, assess as well as evaluate BPO industries mainly towards recognizing of such training and development. The one objective is to integrate cases and literature studies that adhere to training development of BPO industry as the research is vital in order for Oman's BPO presence is of effective stature in terms of training and development. Other initial objectives will deal to BPO as noted and discussed by various researches in form of secondary resources that leads to main research methodology and that is, case study utilization approach of certain BPO industries being known about for Oman industries to follow and have it as an ideal reference. In global workplace, there was tremendous growth in business processing outsourcing (BPO). Many industries are establishing effective centers, back offices and other offshore enterprises in developing countries in an attempt to reduce costs. The research focuses on training development area of BPO industry, business establishments' training domains. The outlining of training development faced in offshore outsources destinations, investigate some of the reasons for breakdowns in communication. The identification of managerial challenges and opportunities faced by business process outsourcing (BPO) firms in Oman by means of interviewing 25 executives in lower, middle as well as upper management in a total of at least 3 BPO industry. Content analysis of the responses will be revealed upon human resource training and development related challenges as a critical issue to tackle into. The application of SWOT analysis will be covered for future training opportunities linking to knowledge process outsourcing. Another secondary data presenting in global research agencies and Oman's national trade association, will be supporting outcomes. BPO changes to address challenges as well as to exploit training development opportunities will be explored in research.

The purpose of research is to examine the factors that drive firm's decision to invest in training in Oman's business process outsourcing (BPO) sector, research aims to consider much-neglected area and often cite the need to consider external factors, especially needs of the organization's clients in firm's decision to train. The research will employ case study research strategy using semi structured interviews, organization based documents and some non participant observation. Employee turnover, competitive strategy, client specifications and quality management systems were important factors in shaping the nature and extent of training development. The temporal dimension of process was significant in influencing volume of training. The study will be finding out if learning and development were inextricably intertwined with its operations management, as against BPO's HR infrastructure. HRD research adopt inward looking approach, the study offers fresh insights by adopting an outward-looking approach and considers the impact of an organization's clients on provision of training. The study's distinctive contributions are in identifying the influence that client specification, employee turnover, temporal and geographical dimension of processes have on provision of training and, in analyzing the critical and unexplored link between firm's market orientation, learning orientation, and quality management systems, in shaping the nature and extent of training provision. Research extends the current theory building debates and provides insights for practitioners and education policy makers about training decision making in BPO firms.

Some service provider firm in an outsourcing relationship is distinct from typical firm because it is not stand alone organization and fits somewhere in between the value chain of its client's business. Thus, conventional factors like wages, capital, rent, energy consumption cannot appropriately determine a Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) firm's productivity. Aside, academic research is silent on the factors that influence the performance of BPO firm even though the issue is pertinent from the perspective of the host country, the sourcing firm, the global outsourcing industry and of course the service provider firm. In this research, there will be embarking on in order to explore the latter factors.

Research will be situated in human resources development literature and consider area and often cited need to consider external factors, especially the needs of an organization's customers/clients in firm's decision to train (Bing et al., 2003; Short, 2006) Through case study methodology, there examine factors that drive firm's decision to invest in training in Oman's information technology enabled services sector as well as BPO. Thus, Smith (2000) has "argued that phenomenon of enterprise training is too complex to be explicated by survey methodologies". Aside, research on enterprise training needs alternative research strategies such as case study research to uncover the complex interactions in training decision-making, especially when the phenomenon and the context cannot be separated. Qualitative case study methodology is one such strategy that can yield valuable insights about the phenomenon by allowing it to be studied in its natural settings (Yin, 2003) External factors, such as clients' needs, are particularly important given the distinct features of business process outsourcing (BPO) industry, such as the high level of interdependence between a service provider and the client firm, and the dynamic nature of its business environment (Banerjee, 2004). In addition to the factors identified in the extant literature that explain a firm's decision to invest in training (Smith et al., 2004), the distinctive contribution is in identifying the influence of a firm's market orientation, learning orientation and quality management systems on the nature and extent of training in firms in BPO sector. There provides novel insights into reasons for variation in training by considering a temporal dimension of an organization's process or project life cycle, its competitive strategy and the interactions between various organizational capabilities. The rest of research is organized as follows first, brief discussion of structure of Oman's BPO sector. Second, reviewing the literature relating to drivers of training in industries as there primarily informs objectives of research. Third, presenting methodology employing rationale of research study. Fourth, presenting ample analysis and findings concluding research implications.

A Sample Rationale Statement on Foster Care

Rationale Statement

For this research study, foster care transition effects will be in placed of the foster care framework by which the community provides care for young people who have been removed from their birth parents or other custodial adults by state authority. Responsibility for the young person is assumed by the relevant governmental authority and a placement with another family found. There can be voluntary placements by a parent of a child into foster care. Foster care is just a short term alternative while on the way to determining one of the three permanent plans for the child. Foster care is intended to be a temporary living situation for children and adolescents. The need to assimilate and realize effective goals towards foster care and the need to craft in case study approach determining certain situations that links to effects of foster care transition and to be able to provide support and care for those individuals needing the care as well as understand facilitation of foster care arrangement.

Crafting and adopting of foster care programs offering certain educative resources in preparing for transition to effective living although there is a difficult stature in terms of recruiting foster parents like, some reason towards stigma in the society. Furthermore, children and young people are provided with alternative accommodation while they are unable to live with their parents. As well as foster care, this can include placements with relatives or kin, and residential care. In most cases, children in home-based care are also on a care and protection order (Dorsey, 2008). Foster care implies to complex service serving children who have experienced abuse or neglect, birthparents and families, their foster parents. Children in foster care may live with unrelated foster parents, with relatives, with families who plan to adopt them, or in group homes or residential treatment centers.

Foster care is designed as a temporary service that responds to crises in the lives of children and families, those children who enter care either will return to their parents as soon as possible, or will be provided with safe, stable, and loving families through placement with relatives or adoption. Foster care faces new and increasing demands, policies and practice must respond in ways that ensure that children, their families, and their caregivers receive the highest quality service possible. There heightening of societal expectations and standards for acceptable family functioning, social shift and continues to the present (U.S. House of Representatives, 2000). Majority of foster parents stated that sharing of parental attention should be discussed with biological children before beginning, parents and children felt that training sessions for biological children would help their adjustment to foster care.

Case study approach, integration and analysis will be adopted in this research regarding foster care focus, foster care is intended to be remedy, plans to maintain children in foster care until the age of majority is common. Case study research excels at bringing us to an understanding of complex issue or object and can extend experience or add strength to what is already known through previous research. Case studies emphasize detailed contextual analysis of limited number of events or conditions and their relationships. Researchers have used the case study research method for many years across a variety of disciplines. Yin defines the "case study research method as an empirical inquiry that investigates a contemporary phenomenon within its real-life context; when the boundaries between phenomenon and context are not clearly evident; and in which multiple sources of evidence are used" (Yin, 1984, p. 23). The linking to several effective efforts in developing program and policy initiatives addressing transition effects, discussion of several interviews within foster care with availability of studies. Research study upon integrating and recognizing in foster care, from within important information catering to several effects of foster care once transition takes place. Details on the conceptual framework as there imply to evaluative literature studies; also describe method used to identify effects of foster care.

The need to be aware of the unsatisfactory transition to foster care as there can be found as prevalence strikes among children, the need to link and understand conventional foster family care in considerable manner that suits the latter. There is urgent need for wider range of foster care options to bring in desirable and effective effects once there is transition, as agreeing that researcher from certain disciplines use case study method to build upon theory, to challenge theory, to explain situation, to provide basis to situation in phenomenon. The utilization of questionnaire method in order to investigate effects of foster care once there is transition from certain cases linking to biological children found in foster care setting.

The analysis on the external and internal environment of Primark retailing industry

Introduction

The omnipresence of global trends and innovations debunk the idea of business monopoly and empire states. Today, the trends are set to maximize the potential of human powers by trivializing simple phenomena in order to fashion complex and subtle effects. In the minds of prominent sociologists and philosophers these trivialization of occurrences brought about by man's deepest desire of uncovering the truth and meaning of life. However, our correspondence and connection with the truth is indirect and diluted which can only be accessible via representations and constructs. Hence, the necessity, though, not necessarily is, of excavating the truth embedded on phenomena became an ordinary human laborious pursuit.

Moreover, due to rapid changes on various aspects of human life our reactions vary depending on the way we perceive it, while forming effective and efficient mechanisms become a mechanical elocutionary act. This fact is paralleled with the nature and condition of business operations wherein technology dictates in setting the trends and innovations. Moreover, such despotic nature of technology invigorates the force and power of globalization to deeply penetrate all human spheres of interaction.

Technology, Market, and Trends

The incorrigibility of technological advancement obviously shoves business operations and economic modes to be flexible. Here, business movers, analysts, strategists, theorists, scholars, and other personalities with significant role in business management and economic functions should be shrewd enough to incline their attention to the unexpected events and surprises which charily crafted by setters of global trends and innovations. Therefore, in business operations incessant assessment, evaluation, and revision of organization's strategies, programs, standards, objectives and goals are imperative. So much so, that such relentless observation should have mixed with collective effort and work of all representatives and members of the giving organizational body.

Hence, the evolution of marketing processes and modes of producing goods and services was not only invented during the recent centuries but, was already present when the first civilization came to existence. Although, no proper and serious study made at those times, recent discoveries and theoretical principles were, I believe, are products of the precedents civilizations. Meanwhile, not until Frederick Taylor's revolutionary theory which led to crumble the traditional management process and replaced it with a scientific-based management process stupefied managers, capitalists, and movers of his time.

Significance of business market

The ascension of skyscrapers, business towers and trade centers in different places all over the world signify the dominance and control of business sector compared to other social fields. We can argue then that business operations become instrumental in human living without which the height of survival maybe reduced to a lesser amount. In contrast, business as a mode of survival for human beings inexorably becomes an exploitative and dominative domain wherein human resources and manual labor are alienated from the true value of human dignity and worth.

Despite this reality, human resistance is tempered by the need to survive and to further acquire material possessions. Likewise, as man's social and material needs increases, new business production and services schemes are emerging in response to these increasing demands.

It is in this context, which many business types are emerging due to human needs. On this account, technology, human needs, and business inseparably affect each other's domains, more so, tends to cross each other's boundaries to penetrate each others' systems. The chain of reaction cannot be dissolve easily. This idea under capitalist's viewpoint, the plethora of ever-increasing needs is the façade of one fundamental need: the pressing need for money. Now what dictates business firms and increasing expenses on research to track down recent trends is because of such need.

Primark: An Overview

Primark Stores Limited is an Irish clothing retailer. Its stores are located in various regions like United Kingdom, Ireland, and Spain. Within this area of responsibility, Primark stores outnumbered other clothing retailer business, with one hundred sixty one stores overall distributed in three major regions: one hundred twenty-five in the United Kingdom, thirty-four in Ireland and eight in Spain. The company positions itself as marketing fashionable at cutthroat prices.

The original clothing store was established by Arthur Ryan and his collaborator Micaela Mitchell in Dublin Ireland in 1969. After various success in clothing business, great profits and gross income led them to open stores in local and regional areas. It acquired various premises in different business centers within its local and regional areas which eventually generate more profits and income.

Primark is known for selling clothes at the budget end of the market. Its success is based on sourcing supply, making clothes with simple designs and fabrics and targets young, fashion-conscious individuals ages 35 below, offering them simple yet high quality clothes and apparels.

Hence, these successes brought significant changes on Primark's retail business. The relevance of global trends and consumers' demands on lifestyle made Primark Store Limited reinvent its business scheme and management structure.

Primark's management and business structure

As a famous clothing retail store, recently, Primark embarks in different retail products not only restricted on manufacturing clothes but also other related products such as apparels and accessories available to all human sizes.

Primark employs simple managerial operation on its stores structure. Each store has its own manager responsible in overseeing the status and business operations. With managers' inherent authority, they are given the power and control to manage the store within his/her point of responsibility. Moreover, in smaller or larger branches, assistant and deputy managers are assigned to control and manage the store. Within the store, there are different subdivided departments in which a manager is assigned like senior department managers and junior department managers who are in charge for individual departments.

Moreover, under management, there are supervisors in charge of staff on a sales floor, on different departments like stock room staff, customer service staff, customer service desk, cashiers who work on the tills, cash office staff and staff responsible to look after fitting rooms.

This management and business structure posits a simple way of managing human labor force, however, simple it may seem, yet inevitably creates serious problems and issues if and when proper assessment of the structure will be undervalued.

Analysis on the internal and external environment of Primark retail industry

The Primark clothing retail industry is a member of Ethical Trading Initiative, a collaborative forum bringing together businesses to work on labor rights issues in their supply chains. In fact, Primark developed ethical strategy in order to promote labor rights issues within its organization. Certain guidelines and code of conduct must be defined in relation to the ethical implications of work to human labor rights. Primark, initiated and defined its ethical trade strategy in 2006, focusing on assessment of employees working conditions, factories operations' concerns and addressed necessary improvement. Primark's annual report of activity should be passed to the Ethical Trading Initiative Board.

Moreover, Primark stands to a principle that shared learning and collaboration is one of the most successful ways to achieve sustained positive progression with its supplier's factories. However, climate change within and outside Primark's environment changes as it faces the challenges posed by the global business market. Using PESTLE and SWOT analysis, let us examine the ins and outs environment of Primark's retail clothing industry.

The PESTLE analysis allows us to examine the external factors affecting the environment of an organization while SWOT analysis aids us to assess organization's internal strengths and weaknesses and further identify threats and opportunities external to its environment.

Hence, these methods are helpful for us to understand and underline positive and negative factors affecting the external and internal environment of an organization like Primark.

In assessing the political, social, and economic factors external to the environment of Primark, we must consider different issues. Primark's business operations are subject to government policies and regulations. The business firm should conform to the set of policies and regulations stipulated and enforced by the government and policy making body while conforming to the set of regulations and policies, the firm should assume social responsibility as demanded by the global consciousness. Nowadays, business sectors no longer busied themselves to produce bonds of profits and income but deeply involved in social programs to promote social awareness and equality. Cultural and social behaviors of different consumers are important to consider when establishing or venturing business in the global landscape.

Furthermore, economic, environment, laws, and technology are inseparable entities in which influence the business operations. The economic stability of certain region can contribute allot to the business condition of certain firm, like Primark. Technology on the other hand, brought a tremendous effect to the status and development of business operations and marketing programs. It generates new trends in a rapid movement, which if organizations are unaware will impede growth and development.

Hence, Primark's must constantly assess its strategy with consideration to its PESTLE as external factors that in one way or the other affects its internal and business operations.

Assessing the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of Primark, we go back to its established management or business structure. The need for re-tracking the management or business structure is important in analyzing its SWOT. As to my knowledge upon my encounter with Primark's business operations, its strengths are gained in its simple, systematic and organized business structure, having assigned proper authorities to proper positions. Moreover, its recognition for valuing high quality of products and quality services with its customers garnered more strength to attract more people. On the other hand, Primark's weaknesses can be found in its way of managing people. Although, Primark is a member of Ethical Trade Initiative, study shows given different negative issues concerning its business operations and transactions like child labor, purports less value on ethical matters. Different issues were attacking Primark concerning exploitation and abuse on labor force, other environmental concerns, poor working conditions, and disvaluing workers' rights. Primark in different surveys was labeled as a fashion industry with oppressive regime. The primacy of autocratic and rigidity on standard structures can be a weakness as well as threats to the life of the company.

Since, it goes globally, opportunities are in wide array not only on the part of venturing into regions with much income and profit to gain but also an opportunity to share and provide quality products to fashion-conscious people with vogue to fashion lifestyle.

Conclusion

Given this analysis we come to realize that each organization has its own external and internal problems to handle. The process in which we enable to identify and analyze such problems is by using proper management method of analysis like SWOT and PESTLE. The importance of these methods is squared to the importance of the business itself.

Research Proposal on The benefits of procurement methods to organizations

Introduction

The research will basically determine and critically appraise procurement methods that are of effective notion for certain organizations. The need to imply comprehensive literature collation that will bring in a solid basis of positive and negative benefits of such methods relating to procurement strategies and ways that organization adopts, uses, applies and executes. Probably, preliminary literature case assumptions will be used as a core method upon which specific cases directing to organizations will be possible, these organizations could be SMEs operating in Uganda as there focus on procurement methods pertaining to ideal and winning benefit piece. Moreover, it is known that procurement methods play major role in defining and shaping contractual and work relationships between parties involved in the construction process. Thus, better understanding of those methods and criteria that practitioners use in their selection is important step in enhancing certain understanding of the issue. The research will present outcome of study into criteria of selection for procurement methods used in Uganda's SME industry such as those involved in the construction sector, the research will investigate issue of satisfaction with procurement methods.

Problem statement

Building procurement has become fashionable term with industry practitioners and researchers. There determine overall framework and structure of responsibilities and authorities for participants within the building process. It is a key factor contributing to overall client satisfaction and project success. The selection of the most suitable procurement method consequently is critical for both clients and project participants, and is becoming an important and contemporary issue within the building industry. The problem implies the fact that there has been limited empirical research in this field of study. Procurement method from its selection continues to be topical, and several advanced studies have been reported. One of the key concerns of procurement selection is how to enhance objectivity with the input of industrial experts, critical procurement selection criteria and procurement strategies commonly used in Uganda will be identified. Several utility factors corresponding to various procurement strategies will be created forming in utility factor to be derived from the procurement strategies, taking into account the relative importance of selection criteria. The use of procurement model has to be illustrated into the actual research data. Another problem lies within the fact that some studies about procurement methods is limited to amiably determine success factors that bring in benefit options for the organization. Thus, there lack of assessment tools that implies to research methods and materials to use in finding research evidences and support.

Objectives

The key objective in research is to recognize and find out several procurement methods that an organization could use in order to fully exercise business operations and effectively adhere to these procurement methods with a grounding literature base as one factor for understanding imperative benefits. The need to use postal questionnaire survey to be given at clients and consultants in Uganda as being used in order to obtain experience of and attitudes to variety of procurement methods and the criteria used for selection. The findings indicate that a simple set of the criteria generally is adequate and sufficient for procurement path selection, and that there is a reasonable consensus on the appropriate weighting for each path. Moreover, it is shown that, contrary to expectations, similar clients generally do not have similar procurement needs. Questionnaire will be prepared with other objective of obtaining information relating to procurement choice and satisfaction with procurement methods used by organizations. Total of 100 questionnaires will be mailed to 50 clients and 50 consultants through statement formation will be employed by means of five point scaling system for data analysis.

Scope of the study

Adopting of procurement methods framework can be introduced in order to help SME organizations review project portfolio to find more effective ways of using market resources in information systems development to determine what procurement methods/strategies should be used in diverse situation. According to Procurement Principle, systems that are company specific and involve high uncertainty have to be internally developed because they require specific knowledge and intensive interaction between developers and users. Procurement Principle will be tested with data from recent SME development projects in Uganda. Project delivery methods and procurement policies that currently drive the management of infrastructure system will be explored. The methods ranged from the combined procurement of the design, construction, operation and maintenance of facility, such as Design-Build-Operate and Design-Build-Finance-Operate, to separate procurement of these services like Design-Bid-Building and Design-Build. Thus, some drivers that foster future shift in public procurement procedures are needed to be highlighted as well as development of efficient procurement practice.

Literature review

For literature, Masterman (1992) provide good background to some procurement work as traditional procurement route came under closer scrutiny other procurement routes developed and consequently means for selection were considered. In addition, Masterman (1992) have defined various procurement routes if characteristics of procurement route can be identified and the impact of these characteristics upon performance can be measured, then and only then, can the selection of specific procurement path serving in definite purpose.

Morledge and Sharif (1996 a; 1996 b) have discussed procurement strategy, summarized procurement options and outlined better process to assist in the selection of the best procurement method/strategy. Furthermore, Gillespie (1994) questions the extent that rationality plays in procurement selection and suggest that other factors often influence choice. Some researchers suggested the use of fuzzy logic to produce computerized systems to help practitioners (Peak et al., 1992; Russell, 1992). Turner (1990) provides an assessment of the risk inherent in procurement routes and it can be inferred that this is an important determinant in the route being selected.

Effectiveness of E-marketing Strategies: Comparative Case Research of South Pacific Region and South Asia

Ideally, e-marketing is growing at a dramatic pace and is significantly impacting customer and business market behaviors. As a result, most firms have started developing e-marketing strategies for the web. However, the evolution and strategic direction of e-marketing strategies in international environments has not been discussed and is the focus of the research investigation. The research will be focusing on online business (e-marketing) as the major part of the study will bring in special concern to online business in South Pacific region as well as South Asia

A Research Proposal Analysis on the External and Internal Factors in an Organization
