Rationale Statement
For this research study, foster care transition effects will be in placed of the foster care framework by which the community provides care for young people who have been removed from their birth parents or other custodial adults by state authority. Responsibility for the young person is assumed by the relevant governmental authority and a placement with another family found. There can be voluntary placements by a parent of a child into foster care. Foster care is just a short term alternative while on the way to determining one of the three permanent plans for the child. Foster care is intended to be a temporary living situation for children and adolescents. The need to assimilate and realize effective goals towards foster care and the need to craft in case study approach determining certain situations that links to effects of foster care transition and to be able to provide support and care for those individuals needing the care as well as understand facilitation of foster care arrangement.
Crafting and adopting of foster care programs offering certain educative resources in preparing for transition to effective living although there is a difficult stature in terms of recruiting foster parents like, some reason towards stigma in the society. Furthermore, children and young people are provided with alternative accommodation while they are unable to live with their parents. As well as foster care, this can include placements with relatives or kin, and residential care. In most cases, children in home-based care are also on a care and protection order (Dorsey, 2008). Foster care implies to complex service serving children who have experienced abuse or neglect, birthparents and families, their foster parents. Children in foster care may live with unrelated foster parents, with relatives, with families who plan to adopt them, or in group homes or residential treatment centers.
Foster care is designed as a temporary service that responds to crises in the lives of children and families, those children who enter care either will return to their parents as soon as possible, or will be provided with safe, stable, and loving families through placement with relatives or adoption. Foster care faces new and increasing demands, policies and practice must respond in ways that ensure that children, their families, and their caregivers receive the highest quality service possible. There heightening of societal expectations and standards for acceptable family functioning, social shift and continues to the present (U.S. House of Representatives, 2000). Majority of foster parents stated that sharing of parental attention should be discussed with biological children before beginning, parents and children felt that training sessions for biological children would help their adjustment to foster care.
Case study approach, integration and analysis will be adopted in this research regarding foster care focus, foster care is intended to be remedy, plans to maintain children in foster care until the age of majority is common. Case study research excels at bringing us to an understanding of complex issue or object and can extend experience or add strength to what is already known through previous research. Case studies emphasize detailed contextual analysis of limited number of events or conditions and their relationships. Researchers have used the case study research method for many years across a variety of disciplines. Yin defines the "case study research method as an empirical inquiry that investigates a contemporary phenomenon within its real-life context; when the boundaries between phenomenon and context are not clearly evident; and in which multiple sources of evidence are used" (Yin, 1984, p. 23). The linking to several effective efforts in developing program and policy initiatives addressing transition effects, discussion of several interviews within foster care with availability of studies. Research study upon integrating and recognizing in foster care, from within important information catering to several effects of foster care once transition takes place. Details on the conceptual framework as there imply to evaluative literature studies; also describe method used to identify effects of foster care.
The need to be aware of the unsatisfactory transition to foster care as there can be found as prevalence strikes among children, the need to link and understand conventional foster family care in considerable manner that suits the latter. There is urgent need for wider range of foster care options to bring in desirable and effective effects once there is transition, as agreeing that researcher from certain disciplines use case study method to build upon theory, to challenge theory, to explain situation, to provide basis to situation in phenomenon. The utilization of questionnaire method in order to investigate effects of foster care once there is transition from certain cases linking to biological children found in foster care setting.
